Namo Venkatesa is a budle of romance, drama, action and entertainment. Venkatesh is seen playing a role of Parvathaneni Venkata Ramana, who is an ardent devotee of Lord Venkateswara. Trisha is playing an important role in the movie, but Venkatesh and Brahmanandam who plays the role of Paris Prasad, steal the show.

Venky plays the role of a man, who's yet to marry his dream girl. When he finds the girl, he is made to believe that she is in love with him. However, the girl is in love with Aakash and like many other films when they are about to tie the knot, the hero does a sacrificial act. As expected and seen in most movies, the girl falls for him. Happy ending.

The story is quite common, but the performances are brilliant. Can be watched once.

Review

Story

ye maya chesave Karthik (Naga Chaitanya) is an engineering graduate who wants to pursue his career as a film director. Samantha is his neighbour and he falls in love with her at the very first sight. But there are two catches. One is that she is elder to him and the bigger hitch is that she is a Malayali Christian. He proposes to her and she slowly falls for his guts and his perseverance. Her strict father comes to know about it and settles her marriage. She loves him, but can’t hurt her entire family by marrying him. The rest of the story is all about how Karthik achieves his passion to become a film director and tastes success at the personal front.
Artists Performance
ye maya chesave Naga Chaitanya: Naga Chaitanya is extremely natural in the role of Karthik. It is basically a conversational film with too many tight close-ups. It takes real confidence and acting prowess to do such scenes in an authoritative manner. Naga Chaitanya proves that he is a brilliant actor with his performance in this movie. His dialogue delivery and body language is highly authentic. You are not going to believe that this is his second film after watching his performance. It’s a top notch effort from him and he will do wonders in the future.
ye maya chesaveSamantha: Samantha’s debut is one of the best heroine debuts in Telugu cinema. This dusky beauty is highly charming and she is cool in acting as well. The minute expressions she gave spoke volumes about her. Lots of credit should go to director for etching her beautiful characterization. I absolutely loved the voice of the artist who dubbed her. She is the same one who dubbed the voice of Sameera Reddy in ‘Surya s/o Krishnan’. It’s husky and contemporary.
ye maya chesaveOthers: Krishnudu is very good as hero’s friend. Sanjay Swaroop (producer and husband of Manjula) did the role of hero’s father and he suited it well. Puri Jagan played as himself for a few scenes. Trisha and Simbhu (who acted in the Tamil version of the same) did a cameo. All other actors are cast appropriately. Surekha Vani is very good.
Technical departments
ye maya chesaveStory: Men are simple and women are complex. When it comes to love, man proposes to a woman with plain heart and with no complications. Women, on the other hand make simple things complicated with their complex behaviour. Gowtam Menon has beautifully explored that point and penned a wonderful story of a simple guy who would do anything for love and a complex girl who keeps vacillating about taking decisions.
ye maya chesavescreenplay - direction: Screenplay of the movie is very good. The movie could end at any point after interval. It needs tremendous narrative skills and screenplay to make people get interested in the second half because the movie can end at the moment hero/heroine converge upon on marriage. I loved the love episodes between Surya and Sameera Reddy (train scene) in Surya s/o of Krishnan and wondered when he is going to make such a story into a full-leangth feature film and Gowtam Menon answered my wish with his next movie by filling it full of magical moments and sweet nothings. It’s a astonishing work by Gowtam Menon. You can’t separate a moment from the movie to be the best. This movie is like a seamless flow of visual poetry.
ye maya chesaveOther departments: Music by AR Rehman is awesome. songs are extremely good and background score, rerecording and mixing is perfectly done. All songs are picturized extremely well. Cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa breath-taking. The choice of locations and camera work blended seamlessly. Dialogues by Anuradha are extremely natural and contemporary. Art direction by Rajeevan is superb. Editing my Anthony is flawless. Production values by Indira Productions are impeccable.
ye maya chesaveAnalysis: I had never seen such a wonderful movie that deals with the straightforward nature of a man and complex nature of a woman so perfectly. Everybody must have gone through these moments in their lives and you are sure to get nostalgic watching some moments in this movie. The entire movie is excellent and extremely engaging except for 10 minutes (in second half from the breakup to the scene where other female proposes him). It takes guts and tremendous conviction makes a movie like Ye Maya Chesave from the director, producer and hero (It was Naga Chaitanya who set this combination up). All three of them should be appreciated for making this movie happen. Ye Maya Chesave movie should do extremely well in multiplexes and A centers. I wish/hope/want this movie to do well in B/C centers as well. This film has all the ingredients for a movie to remain as a timeless classic. Go and watch it!!

Review

Story

kedi Ramesh (Nagarjuna) runs away from home during his childhood and gets attracted towards smuggling. He is an expert in smuggling and con activities. He settles in Goa and works for a big-time smuggler Chandra (Ankur Vakil). Something goes wrong in a deal and Ramesh does an unthinkable mistake. ACP Sekhar who is in pursuit of Ramesh nabs him and starts an interrogation. The rest of the story is all about how Ramesh redeems himself.
Artists Performance
kedi Nagarjuna keeps surprising everyone with his looks. He looks slimmer, younger and dashing in the role of Kedi. He is so handsome that he could give any young Telugu actor a run for his money. And the heroines of Nagarjuna should really do something extraordinary to match up to his looks. Mamata Mohandas suited the role well and did commendable job within the limitations of the characterization. Ankur Vakil (Slumdog Millionaire fame) is competent. Sayaji Shinde shines in the role of honest officer. Brahmanandam is partly entertaining. Harsha Vardhan did the role of hero’s sidekick and he has got lots of footage in the movie. Anushka did a cameo in Maya Maschindra song that comes during title cards of the movie. Hindi actors like Nirmal Pandey, Akhilendra Mishra and Kelly Dorji did roles in the movie. The rest of the actors consist of mostly TV artists.
Technical departments
kediStory: The basic arch of the story has it’s roots in Hindi flick ‘Oye Lucky Lucky Oye’ (click here for jeevi review). That movie is based on a real life story of a passionate thief called Bunty in Delhi. The screenplay, narrative style and characterizations are inspired by that film. Both films start with hero captured by cops. Then the senior cop starts investigating and the flashback starts with childhood days of hero where he would have a love affair. The rest of the story is narrated through a series of flashbacks from the hero to the cop. The sidekick character is also inspired by OLLO. The director has added terrorist angle to the movie. An interesting aspect of the movie is that both hero and cop characters are realistic. Cop doesn’t hold any personal grudge thief and he treat hero as a fellow human being.
kediScreenplay - direction: Debutant director Kiran tried to do a different screenplay with this movie and somehow he fails to produce the desired result. The main problem with the movie is that there are no commercial payoffs. One can make a good movie even without having commercial payoffs. But the director couldn’t able to narrate this ‘hatke’ subject interestingly. The movie goes into uni-dimensional mode in the second half and it cost the movie dearly.
kediOther departments: Music by Sandeep Chowta is adequate. Cinematography by Sarvesh Murari stands out. The locations of Goa are well selected (especially the villain’s house where the bottom of balcony is touches the sea). Dialogues are alright. Stunts are realistic. Art direction is neat.
kediAnalysis: First half of the movie is adequate. Second half is disappointing. Nagarjuna should be appreciated for his guts to agree to act in a kind of this movie. If made well, Kedi could have become real class movie and if it’s not then the result could be catastrophic. The debutant director couldn’t handle the script well and it becomes an uninteresting fare. On a whole, Kedi fails to keep audiences interested in the movie.

Review

Story

bindaas Ajay (Manoj Manchu) and his parents are alienated from a big family of factionists in Rayalaseema. Ajay belongs to the family of Mahendra Naidu (Ahuti Prasad). Seshadri Naidu (Jaya prakash Reddy) is the enemy of Mahendra Naidu. They keep killing the family members of each other. The story of the movie is all about the free spirited Ajay puts an end to these killings.
Artists Performance
bindaas Manoj Manchu: Manoj Manchu deserves a huge round of applause for his terrific work in this movie. Manoj has shown inclination to do something different with Nenu Meeku Telusa and Prayanam movies. Bindaas is a regular commercial film and Manoj Manchu brought a new perspective to his character with his extremely cool attitude. Characterization done by Veeru Potla should also be commended. His dialogue delivery, comedy expressions and dare-devil stunts are really good.
bindaasOthers: Sheena looks like a kid (not like a heroine of a commercial film) and she is adequate. Vennela Kishore gets an entertaining role and he is really good. Sunil is nice in the supportive role. Master Bharat has done another entertaining character in this movie. Brahmanandam entertains again. MS Narayana is good though his role is a small one.
Technical departments
bindaasStory - screenplay - direction: Story of the movie is little predictable. The story has some shades in Venky’s Kalisundam Raa. What separates this movie from the similar movies that came in the recent months was the treatment and characterizations done by the first time director Veeru Potla. He shows very good promise with this movie and he has it in him to become big in the future. He has got good timing in comedy and entertainment. However, he needs to work on the holistic perspective of the movie.
bindaasOther departments: Music by Bobo Sashi should have been better. Cinematography is alright. Dialogues by Veeru Potla are huge plus to the movie. There are a good number of humor-laced conversations at regular intervals. Stunts and chases are beautifully coordinated. Producer Anil Sunkara comes up with good production values and publicity.
bindaasAnalysis: First half of the movie is entertaining. Second half goes on predictable mode. Climax is clichéd. Debutant director Veeru Potla shows promise and he has got good grip in entertaining scenes. Plus points of the movie are Manoj Manchu’s entertaining performance and entertainment. On the flipside, heroine and music should have been better. The story of Bindaas offers nothing new, but Veeru Potla succeeds in making this movie appear entertaining despite of clichéd story. Bindaas also has enough commercial elements that could work at box office.
